When the Mongols invaded Central Asia sometime between 1215a and 1220a, his father (Baha'ud-Din Walad, a Theologian).... set out westwords with his whole family and a group of disciples. From there they went to the Hejaz and performed the pilgrimage at Macca. It was after this journey that most likely as a result of the invitation of Ala'ud-Din key Qobad, ruler of Anatolia Baha'ud-Din came to Asia Minor... and finally settled in Konya in Anatolia within the western most territories of Seljak Empire. Baha'ud-Din become the head of a Madrassa (religious school) and when he died Mavlana Succeeded him at the age of twenty five. One of Baha'ud-Din students, Sayyed Burhan'ud-Din-e Muhaqqiq, continued to train Mavlana in the religious and mystical doctrines of Rumi's father. For nine years Rumi practiced sofism as a disciple of Burhan ud-Din until the latter died in 1240-1a. During this period Mavlana also traveled to Damascus and is said to spent four years there. Mavlana Jalal ud-Din Muhammad Balkhi but known to the English speaking world simply as Rumi, (Sep-30-1207 to Dec-17-1273), was a 13th century Muslim, Poet, Jurist, and Theologian.
His name literally means "Majesty of Religion", Jalal Means "Majesty" and Din means "Religion". Rumi is a descriptive irname meaning "the Ruman" since he died in Anatolia.
Later the an excellent education, Mavlana gave lessons in Konya's Madrassa by 1244a. He raised precious students and lighted the way to the Sultans and the Viziers. It was his meeting with the dervish Shams-e-Tabrizi in the late fall of 1244a that changed his life completely. Shams effected Mavlana very much in spiritual erea. Mavlana fastened, appreciated to him and saw real love of GOD at him.
Mavlana's students and disciples couldn't bear to see this person that held in such high esteem submitting himself to an unknown, again dervish who was uninterested in endearing himself to any one except Mavlana. Soon their displeasure turned to actual threats against Shams, and one day he disappeared.
When he lost guide master, he gave himself divine Sema's and the poem. One time they had asked Mavlana to describe his life and replied, "I was Raw -> Cooked -> Burned." Love of GOD at him, had found the perfection degree. Mavlana was philosopher and mystic of Islam. Mavlana, who considered every kind of perfection in love only, write all his works on love. for, love in the basis and essence of life. The reason for the creation of the universe is love.
Mavlana deeply attached himself to the articles of belief and the principles of Islam. Hence, the subject of worship is dealt with clearly and n detail in his works. Mavlana expressed with examples that Almighty GOD is the owner of attributes of will and power.
The belief of divine destiny, which is one of the articles of belief, is also in this nature. In fact, GOD gave man the religion and knowledge, sent book and messengers to him to show the right path, and announced that all men would be kept responsible for their unions n this world and given reward or punishment in accordance with their doings.
All these things indicate that man has a part will and is responsible for his actions before the divine will. The world, in Mavlana's works, is a concept, which binds man tightly with the materialistic bonds, and prevents him from comprehending the real reason in his creation.
In order to discover the endless life with the help of Divine love, man should free himself from all material things, which takes his soul from the highest to the lowest level.
The following Quranic passage indicates that death is unavoidable for every creature;"every human being is bound in taste death, [end]
In the end unto us shall all be brought back." (The Quran, 29/57).
This Quranic passage we have just cited, considers death not as annihilation but as man's going back to his creator, returning to his origin, and thus obtaining real and eternal life. Thus, the prophet of Islam said in the same manner: "Believers (Muslims)never die, but are transferred from a world which is temporary to a world which is everlasting.
As is the case with metaphorical description of the reed flute (Nay), which is narrated in opening verses of the Masnevi, man, too, is in exile while living in this world. Death makes man reach his hometown and lover.
In the thought of Islamic mysticism, there are two types of death: dying voluntarily and dying indispensably.
Man's dying indispensably is his spirit's leaving his body. Voluntarily or optional dying is to reach the degree of fanafillah. In accordance with the prophetic saying, "Die before you die!"
His doctrine advocates unlimited tolerance, positive reasoning, goodness, charity and awareness though Love.
His peaceful and tolerant teaching has appealed to men of all sects and creeds...
Come, come again, whoever you are, come!
Heathen, fire worshiper or idolatrous, come!
Come even if you broke your penitence a hundred times, ours is the portal of hope, come as you are.
Come, come, come...whatever you are, it doesn't matter. Whether you are an infidel, an idolater or a fire work shipper.
Come, our convent is not a place of despair.
Come, even if you violated your vows a hundred times, come again.
Mavlana's religious exposition of Sufism is mainly contained in his "Masnavi", an enormous poetic work in six books, comprising almost 30,000 couplets. It pursues its way though handreds of stories that illustrate man's predicament in his search of GOD. In fact, Masnavi" is a poetic form consisting of rhymed couplets in Turkish and Persian literature.
Sema is used to refer to some of the ceremonies used by various sufi orders and often involves prayer, song, dance, and other ritualistic activities.
In the Mavlavi sufi tradition, sema represents a mystical journey of spiritual ascent though mind and love to "perfect".
In this journey the seeker symbolically turns towards the truth, grows though love, abandons the ego, find the truth .. and arrives at the "perfect"; then returns from this spiritual journey with greater maturity .. so as to love and to be of service to the whole of creation .. without discrimination against beliefs, races, classes and nations.
The whirling dervishes to perform annually in Konya on the Urs of Mavlana, December 17, the anniversary of Rumi's death.
The Mavlana annual festival is hold every year in Konya in December. It lasts two weeks and its culminating point is the 17th December called Sheb-e-Arus meaning "Nuptial Night", the night of union of Mavlana with GOD.
"The past has vanished, every thing that was uttered belongs there; Now is the time to speak of new things".
The day I've died, my pall is moving on... But do not think my heart is still on earth! Don't weep and pity me: "Oh woe, how awful! Don't cry "Woe, parted!" at my burial..for me this is the time of joyful meeting!
Don't say "farewell!" when I'm put in the grave.. A curtain is it for eternal bliss. You saw "descending"..now look at the rising! Is setting dangerous for sun and moon? To you it looks like setting, but it's rising; The coffin seems a jail, yet it means freedom.
Which seed fell on the earth that did not grow there! why do you doubt the fate of human seed?
What bucket come not filled from out the cistern? why should the yousuf "Soul" then fear this well?
Close here your mouth and open it on the side so that your hymns may sound in where-no-place! Come together.
I died from minerality and become plant, And from plant I died and became Animal. I died from Animality and become man. Then why fear disappearance through death?
Next time I shall die bring forth wings and feathers like Angels, After that soaring higher the Angels - what you can't imagin, I shall be that.
In generosity and helping others be like a river...
In compassion and grace be like sun....
In concealing others' faults be like night...
In anger and fury be like dead...
In modesty and humility be like earth...
In tolerance be like a sea...
Either exist as you are or be as you like.
"I am enslaved to fate, of all other say no more."
"With a sweet tongue speak, else I plea say no more."
"Speak not of troubles, of treasures tell me more."
"And if of this you know not, be not trouble, say no more."
"I have gone insane, Love found me, then whispered in my ear."
"I am here cry not aloud, curse yourself not, say no more."
I said "O Love it is other than Thee that I fear!"
Said "It may thus appear, yet is not so, say no more."
"I speak in your ear, to you brings secrets near. speak with your head, confirm a nod say no more."
I asked "what do I see? it is an angel or a man?"
Said "no more an angel than a man, is another, say no more."
"Tell me what is, why withhold? Why the flames of my torment fan?"
Said "Just be tormented, confused, say no more!"
"For leaving this colorful and false abode you're made
no plan Rise up and just depart, leave this home, say no more!"
On the way of quest, the sane and insane are one....
On the way of Love, Relatives and Strangers are one....
Whom the wine of the beloved's union was given in his religion, the Kaaba and the Idol-Temple are one....
I am filled with you. Skin, Blood, Bone, Brain, and Soul.
There's no room of lack of trust, or trust....
Nothing in his existence but existence....
I am so small I can barely be seen, how can this great Love be inside me? ....
Look at your eyes, they are small, but they see Enormous things....
The Middle path is the way to wisdom....
That is only Mavlana who is able to speak bravely the truth of human power...
I am the servant of the Qur'an as long as I have life.
I am the dust on the path of Muhammad, the Chosen one.
If anyone quotes anything except this from my sayings,
I am quit of him and outraged by these words.
Oh the one whom my heart is attached to,
from you, where would i run?
oh light of both visions,
without you how can i see
oh my necks is trapper
from you, where would i run?
Neither you are like me
nor i'm like you,
you are not for that i'm
nor i'm for that, that you are,
i'm completely at your authority,
in my blood running as a whole, you are
even if i become the sun,
still i'm less then you are,

No I am not roaming aimlessly around the streets and bazaar
I am a lover searching for his beloved
God have mercy on me
I am walking around troubled
I have done wrong and sinned
and am walking around wounded
I have drunk the wine of desire
and am strolling around beloved
Though I may seem drunk
I am in my senses...
-I am not an idiot just wandering streets.
Due to state of Ishq (Love) I wander to see my friend.
-O my God help me Im worried Im imperfect, guilty and pity.
-I drunk the wine of companionship. Now Im around him.
The melody is a tranquil while flute is active.
-Happiness to grief turning trouble to relieve.
Curer of my heart, been created to my sickness.
PBUH blessed me a lot. Being slave of Shams Tbrezi
I became Qalander, a spiritual master.
Starting of Masnavi:
"Listen to the reed
and the tale it tells.
How it sings of separation.
'Ever since they cut me from the reed bed,
my wail has caused men and women to weep.
Whoever has been separated from his source
longs to return to that state of union.'"
“Our prophet’s way is the way of love.
We are children of love.
And our mother is love…
PS: Message of Rumi.....
Know thy self
and that the essence of life is love
and that the essence of love is self
A dervish and a lover of Rumi said, That the sign of a disbeliever is that he is lost in the heavens and the earth and sign of a believer is that the heavens and the earth are lost within him self.
Sufism is a branch of Islam and Rumi was a faithful devout Muslim. Shams and Rumi have a relationship of the guide and the guided.
Prayerful dance known as “the Semâ” in all of its glory and mystery. We begin to grasp its transcendent meaning.
“I have no name for that which circles so perfectly. . .”
“The sufi opens his hands to the universe
and gives away each instant, free.
Like someone who begs on the street
for money to survive,
a dervish begs to give you his life.”
Thus, Rumi’s chosen path becomes the key to world peace! His mystical way, whose secrets were transmitted to him from Shams’ heart and with which Rumi’s heart extends to us, is the way of love.
“A secret turning in us
makes the universe turn.”
A melody of Love....
All is born of and love itself..
Dance with me in joy and love..
The Agony of wishing in my heart..
If you find me not within,
you will never find me for I have been with you from beginning....
